However, it is often not necessary to actually organize anything, as the ability to “fiesta” and turn a relatively minor event into a celebration with singing and dancing is one of the most endearing facets of the Spanish national character. Curiously, the fiestas are financed partly by the Town Hall and the allocation of fiesta funds is high on the list of priorities – such is the importance attached to the various events!

They are primarily celebrations to mark an important religious event, but you have the ‘Moors & Christians’ (celebrating the defeat of the former by the latter), bull runs (young bulls let loose in the streets) and much more.

There are various fiestas staged during the year, and you can bet that one will be taking place during your visit, whenever it is. The largest would be Benidorm Fiestas.

Markets

To many people, the Spanish street market is a major holiday attraction. Apart from the bustle and atmosphere, it is true to say that better quality, and cheaper, fruit and vegetables can usually be obtained than in the shops and stores. These markets also sell a wide range of other products, extending over carpets, linen, clothing, leather wear, jewellery, watches, radios and domestic electrical products. Not every stall offers the ‘bargain of the century’, so some care is needed – and remember that there is always the risk that one might not be able to get a refund or exchange if the goods prove to be faulty and this should be reflected in the price paid. On non-food purchases, don’t hesitate to bargain; in fact the stall holder will be quite surprised if you don’t make an offer. The markets open at 9 AM, or earlier, and close at lunchtime. If the normal market day proves to be a fiesta then it is changed to the day before or after.

Rastros (Flea Markets) are usually held over weekends at various resorts and inland towns. These can be really interesting as you mooch about looking for that interesting item to take back home with you, whilst enjoying a day out, perhaps incorporating a long lazy lunch somewhere in the countryside.

Terra Mitica

Benidorm´s Theme Park, managed by Paramount Parks, is unique in the world. This is a fabulous day out for the whole family and well worth the short journey time (15-30 minutes) to visit at least once on your holiday.

A fascinating journey through the mystery of five of the most ancient and legendary civilizations in Mediterranean Sea: Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia and The Islands.

In TERRA MITICA you will be able to fight side by side with Ulysses, escaping from Cyclop, sail through the Nile river, face up to The Minotaur, and see a pirate vessel sinking.

Situated on the outskirts of Benidorm, at Finestrat, it can be seen from the motorway and the bypass, and is well signposted.

Terra Natura

A New Generation of Wildlife Park – no visible barriers exist as you interact with the animal kingdom and witness the timeless wonders of nature, displayed through spectacular shows of skill and artistry. There’s nothing like it back home !! Two parks in one, Terra Natura also contains Aqua Natura, a fantastic water park for a splash a minute fun or relaxing in the spa or on the beach.

Aqualandia

Ideal for families, a large water park with various rides.

Located at Benidorm (on the approach into this resort from the north – and thus easy to find!) Great fun for families with children of all ages as it provides a full and fun-packed day for all.

Dolphins at MundomarMundomar

This park has something for everyone, a great day out for all the family. Flamingos, Turtles, Sea Lions, Seals, Penguins, Parrots, Bat Cave and much more. The main attraction being the fantastic dolphin shows, not to be missed!

Travel through the world, seeing live animals, exotic plants and scenery.

Safari Aitana

Aitana Safari Park. If there was any confusion as to where Valencia is or what it is known for, the city’s renovation with breathtaking architecture turned into museums, aquariums and Imax cinemas plus the hosting of the world famous America’s Cup 2007 has definitely put it on the map. Valencia has gone through all kinds of cultures, taking advantage of each one’s contributions, from the Romans through the Arabs, the Catholic Kings with Ferninand and Isabel, the dictatorship of Franco up to the democratic Spain which now exists. All of this and all that is happening nowadays is what has made Valencia, Spain what it is today and what it will be tomorrow.

Starting in the 70’s, this Mediterranean city began hosting important congresses, now even better equipped with the new vanguard Music Auditorium and Congress hall built in 1988 in the old river-bed of the Turia River. A little further down the river-bed, you will find an impressive group of four white modern buildings, each one offering beauty to the eyes from the outside and an eye-opening experience on the inside. This is the biggest cultural free time resort within a city in all Europe.

The City of the Arts and Science consists of:

1.The Oceanographic Park

A spectacular revelation of the different phases of marine life, bringing what was once far away and unknown, close to the human eye.

2.Hemispheric Planetarium

Brought about so that once again, the spectator can experiment for themselves the attractive sensations of what space is all about. Through the most modern technology with Imax cinemas and laser shows, you are brought so close to outer space through impacting images and sounds.

3.The Prince Philip Science Museum

This was designed to house permanent science theme related expositions and modern technology.

4.The Arts Palace

This building will soon be completed and will be destined to the creation and diffusion of the scenic arts.

Heaps of fun for everyone in Valencia

There are so many other attractions for everyone’s likings, all located inside the city centre and very easy to get to by bus, metro or car hire, such as the IVAM ( Valencian Institute of Modern Art ), Guillen de Castro Street no. 118, open Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. It usually costs 2 euros but Sundays and holidays are free. The Palace of the Marquee of Dos Aguas, found in a beautifully decorated alabaster building on the outside and typical Valencian ceramic and horse carriages on the inside. It is found on Poeta Querol Street no. 2, open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10 to 2, from 4 to 8 but Sundays and holidays only from 10 to 2. Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings it is free and on the other days it costs 2.50 euros. But do not stop here, visit one of the many tourist offices within the city centre and get free information and timetable for all.

Las Fallas, the most popular street celebration in Valencia dating back to the 16th century is quite an event. It is celebrated from March 15th to 19th, where during five long days and nights you can enjoy seeing over 350 huge carton monuments on almost every corner, religious parades made up of the local lads and lassies dressed in beautiful brocade vestiments, offering bouquets of flowers to the Virgen Mary. All this can be seen in and around the Basilica Square where the flowers are artistically made into the Virgen’s cape, with the baby Jesus held in her arms. But if you could not plan your visit or flight for these days, there is a fantastic Fallas Museum in the Monteolivete Square no. 4 which is the home of the most voted figures which have been saved from being burnt, which is the highlight of this celebration.

Valencia, Spain and its sea adventure

All that has been mentioned before has been and will continue to be part of this city’s life for a long time, but the Americas Cup 2007, the most important yachting and sailing event in the world will only happen once. So if you are still planning some fantastic vacations and want a lot of new thrills, catch a flight to Valencia and book your hotel early to make sure that your holidays will be smooth sailing!

To learn about baking yams and baking ham, visit the Baking Terms website.

Related posts:

Dubai Hotels – a Great Traveling Experience From the most expensive ones to the most famous on...

Some Tips While Traveling To Spain About The Country...

Valencia – UK Holiday Gateway to Northern Costa Blanca The Costa Blanca in Spain has long been a popular...

Cyprus Real Estate And Where To Buy

Sailing Holidays Mediterranean

Cyprus real estate

North cyprus real estate

Northern cyprus real estate

Real estate in cyprus

Discover Cyprus property and holiday issues on this information packed blog which is dedicated to giving free independent tips on Cyprus real estate investment and travel.Related posts:

Which is the Best Resort in Cyprus? What are the best luxury hotels Cyprus has to offer?...

St. Martin Real Estate By: Seth Willis Welkom, bienvenue, welcome! The division of this south-western city comprises Kato Pafos (lower Paphos) and Ktima (upper Paphos). The former is the more developed of the two, there are more crowds, more music, more bars and more luxury hotels (Cyprus has seen tremendous growth in recent decades, Paphos no less than anywhere else) than Ktima. Yet it also houses the most intriguing archaeological sites and it’s easy to forget the encroachment of the modern world as you explore them in the quiet of the day. Ktima, meanwhile, boasts a more traditional view of Cypriot life; with beautiful colonial architecture and regional food to enjoy, there is less of the hectic buzz that categorises an evening in Kato Paphos. Despite their differences, both offer a very real and undeniably exciting experience of modern Cyprus.

Limassol (Lemesos)

Limassol is the second largest city in Cyprus, and holidays here offer attractions matched by few other resorts on the island. The nightlife is famously exuberant (some might say raucous), and the restaurants are second to none. Divided by a busy main road, north of which sit all the attractive cafes, shops and plazas, south of which is a long and popular local Mediterranean beach, Limassol is a vibrant centre of Cypriot life. Some may describe it as a little rough in parts, though it is never threatening. If you like your cities to have the undiluted flavour of life on their streets, then Limassol is not to be missed.

Pissouri

A charming fishing village turned resort, Pissouri is nevertheless a fine choice for your luxury holidays in Cyprus. Surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, the modern town offers villas to rent along the beach or higher up on the hill, from which you can view mile upon mile of spectacular Mediterranean coastline. Located only 30km from Limassol, Pissouri offers a quiet, relaxed and beautiful alternative the more urban diversions of the regional capital. With around half of the residents being local Cypriots and the remainder being visitors from all over Europe and the world, there is an international flavour to the town, but certainly not to the detriment of its distinctly local character.

Kouklia

A small and famously beautiful village in the district of Paphos, Kouklia is surrounded by rich farmland that produces, amongst other things, grapes, olives, citrus fruits and avocados. While not an immediate choice for holiday makers on the island (the luxury hotels of Cyprus tending to locate in larger towns), there are many fine villas to be found in the area, making it a great choice for those in search of something a little quieter and a little alternative, but with all the atmosphere that Cyprus is famous for.

Kyrenia

Kyrenia is famous for its picturesque stone harbour, filled with colourful sailing boats and overlooked by the imposing bulk of Kyrenia castle. A highlight on the itinerary of many Cyprus holidays, the town can suffer from overcrowding in the height of summer, but arrive at any other time of year and you’ll discover a delightful destination which combines the charm of the modern island with the arresting architecture of a past age. A must see in any extended trip to Cyprus.

There are many opportunities for excellent property investments at the moment as Cyprus real estate feels the effects of the economic crisis, so if you are looking for a profitable Cyprus real estate investment, now is the time to find out more.
Read these Cyprus Real Estate Tips written by the illustrious Tim Martins and check out his Cyprus Investment Blog

Related posts:

Which is the Best Resort in Cyprus? What are the best luxury hotels Cyprus has to offer?...

St. Martin Real Estate By: Seth Willis Welkom, bienvenue, welcome! Castellón is both culturally and economically dynamic and one of the most mountainous provinces in Spain.

The city is similar to Valencia in that it’s a mixture of old and new. There are modern avenues and narrow winding streets with Gothic and modernist buildings and home to the Museu de Belles Arts (The Museum of Fine Arts). Both are within easy reach of the city, Requena being the nearest at only 65km and Utiel a little further at 73km. For those interested in visiting a bodega and doing a little wine tasting there are special Vineyard Tours.

South of the City

Only 12 km south of the city center is the famous nature reserve of the Albufera – (l’Albufera) which is very famous for it’s gastronomy, fishing and beautiful freshwater lagoon. It’s also famous for the boat rides and amazing sun sets which are captured in the books by the world famous novelist, Vicente Blasco Ibañez.
